Welcome to Saint Ann’s School of Religion, we are dedicated to assisting you as the primary educators of your children, as you nurture the development of your child’s Faith. We are committed to instructing our students in the teachings of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and to strengthen and deepen their lives in the living out of that Faith.
The School of Religion follows the very successful educational model of “Flip the Classroom” approach. Students are required to complete the online lesson prior to the in-person class where the material will be developed. Saint Ann’s uses the “Faith & Life Series” in the classroom and “My Catholic Faith Delivered” as the online portion of the curriculum. This series along with the online approach to learning is a comprehensive and highly regarded Religious Education Program for Grades 1 through 8.
Today’s generation of young Catholics think and process information far differently than previous generations. Today’s students have never known life without the computer; it is an expected part of life. They want information and answers at their fingertips. Here, we meet our students on their level. Studies indicate that they respond best to interactive learning and My Catholic Faith Delivered is designed to yield a higher rate of knowledge retention.
PLEASE NOTE: Each grade is essential and foundational and builds upon the previous year’s curriculum. Weekly Mass attendance is vital and indispensable, most especially during Sacramental Preparation Years. All families are required to use Church Envelopes as a means of recording Mass attendance.
Enrollment
In keeping with the guidelines established by the Diocese of Metuchen, students are required to attend Religious Education Classes continuously from the First through Eighth grade. The development of Faith takes place in sequence and skipping years does not allow for adequate foundation of the Faith to mature. With our Online Platform and students learning at the own pace missing a grade level is nearly impossible.
To be prepared to receive the Sacraments children must complete the Religious Education materials from First Grade through Eighth Grade. Formation to receive First Holy Communion is a two-year preparation/program that begins in the First Grade. Having completed the Religious Education material for grades one through six, students are ready and properly prepared to enter their formation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, also a two-year preparation/program that begins with the Seventh Grade.
